Buunshin Pushes Sound Design Boundaries in New Single “Luminous Body”

Buunshin represents the Dutch bass scene. His newest single “Luminous Body” illustrates a dreamy, ethereal approach to drum and bass production. “Luminous Body” is the first single from his upcoming album, which will be out later this year.

Buunshin describes “Luminous Body” as “the first chapter of my upcoming album, a record where every song marks a defining moment in the evolution of its protagonist. This opening chapter represents their first encounter with illuminationism: the belief that life is a continual movement toward greater awareness, compassion, truth, and light. Rather than viewing light as something external, illuminationism treats it as an inner direction; a conscious choice to move closer to the highest version of oneself.”

“That philosophy is distilled into a single mantra repeated throughout the song: “Move your body to the light.“

Conceptual journeys in music can result in real magic. Just look at My Chemical Romance’s post-apocalyptic space opera Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (which was just rereleased earlier this month) or Coheed and Cambria’s entire discography if you need more examples. Your imagination can spin incredibly fantastic tales using music and lyrics as fuel.
